Metal Skin (1994) - Q&A with Director Geoffrey Wright

Metal Skin (1994) - Q&A with Director Geoffrey Wright

“Wright shoots and cuts with an energy that would make George Miller proud”— AV Club

Join us for a post-film conversation with director Geoffrey Wright, this breathtaking new 2K restoration, which awakens the complex depths of Wright’s follow-up to the classic Romper Stomper, breathing new life into its gritty aesthetic and revolutionary editing techniques, and making it ripe for rediscovery and a cult classic of cinematic grime.

Born in 1959 in Melbourne, writer/director Geoffrey Wright graduated from the Swinburne Film and Television School with a Diploma of Arts in Film and Television. Wright worked as a movie critic for both the Melbourne Age and Radio 3AW prior to making his feature debut with the poignant short drama Lover Boy (1989), which won awards for Best Australian Short Film at both the Sydney and Melbourne Film Festivals. His next feature Romper Stomper (1992), starring young Russell Crowe, was a wildly controversial but commercially successful drama, followed by the equally strong and uncompromising Metal Skin (1994).
