The Lost Boys (1987)

The Lost Boys (1987)

“An exhilarating hybrid of horror and suburban comedy.” – Desson Thomson, Washington Post

Joel Schumacher’s beloved cult classic vampire comedy is an enduring exploration of teenage alienation, draped in leather and topped with a mullet. Simultaneously campy and hyper-cool, with rich cinematography from Michael Chapman (Taxi Driver, Raging Bull), The Lost Boys blends 80s kid-heroism with outsider gang dynamics, dripping with the neon red blood of the vampire horror genre.

When a recent divorcee (Dianne Wiest) and her two sons (Jason Patric and Corey Haim) move to a small coastal town in California, the boys begin to suspect that a series of mysterious deaths may be linked to a weird and charismatic biker gang who only seem to come out at night. Teaming up with a couple of local comic-book aficionados and amateur vampirologists, the teens attempt to rid their new home of this undead plague.
